Teaching Turkish to Foreigners Certificate
I completed the Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Certificate Program offered by the Continuing Education Center of Istanbul University–Cerrahpaşa.
This program focuses on the theoretical and practical foundations of teaching Turkish to non-native speakers. As the number of people learning Turkish continues to grow globally, there is an increasing need for qualified teachers who understand modern language teaching methods, curriculum design, and the cultural dimension of language learning.
The training follows the framework of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and introduces participants to contemporary approaches in foreign language education.
During the program, we studied key topics such as the following:
• teaching reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills
• grammar teaching strategies in Turkish as a foreign language
• vocabulary-teaching techniques
• the role of culture in language learning
• the use of literary texts in language education
• material development for Turkish language classes
• technology use in language teaching
• modern language teaching methods
• assessment and evaluation in language learning
The program included both theoretical instruction and practical applications, and the certificate is officially verifiable through the Turkish e-Government (E-Devlet) system.
Before focusing specifically on teaching Turkish as a foreign language, I also completed a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification through Arizona State University, studying the pedagogy of teaching languages to non-native speakers.
