A Calm Place to Learn Turkish

If you think of language learning as dull, dry repetition and memorization, then you haven’t learned with Seda.  Seda brings humor, creativity, and a sense of fun to learning Turkish.  I have had the great pleasure of working with her for four years now and have learned so much through her approach.  I like to think that she doesn’t merely teach Turkish, but rather “how to Turkish,” meaning that the emphasis is on thinking and building your capacity through engaging and interesting exercises that are relevant, effective, and fun.  I am excited to both see and use her new website, as the next steps in our Turkish language journey together.

Seda Sürel is the best Turkish teacher you can ever meet! She's patient, supportive, passionate about her own language, she always encourages her students to do their best, she is kind-hearted and an amazing person! When you need her, she's there ready to help you! Also, she is very cultured about her country, her language and her traditions, and she transmits you the same passion she has!

Seda Hocam is a wonderful teacher. She explains everything clearly and with great patience. I always feel comfortable asking questions, and she is very supportive, caring, and encouraging. Having Seda Surel as my Turkish language teacher has been a game changer for my learning. Her dedication as an educator and her depth of knowledge and genuine compassion make her an outstanding educator whom I highly respect and would recommend. Seda responds to my messages very quickly which makes it easy to stay engaged and not lose interest or momentum. Her knowledge of both Turkish and English grammar are exceptional and she explains even the most complex topics in a logical way for me to understand and remember. She provides clear examples of tough concepts which help it ‘click’. Seda also takes the time to correct the Turkish passages that I write for practice. She goes beyond simply giving me the right answer by showing me exactly where and why I am incorrect. Furthermore, she is kind and genuine in her tone and offers additional assistance if I have not understood. This detailed feedback has been crucial in helping me notice my recurring mistakes and improving my accuracy and understanding. Seda provides me practical tips and strategies to incorporate Turkish into my everyday life to boost my Turkish thought process. For example, she suggested talking to myself throughout the day as to explain what I am doing. Also writing shopping lists and talking with my Turkish family whenever possible. These simple but effective habits have helped me practice more, given me more confidence, and encouraged me to speak more with my Turkish family. Finally, when life gets busy and I have not messaged in a while, she has reached out to check in with me. When my motivation and focus has been low, Seda encourages me and finds ways to keep me going which has made a big difference in me not giving up. I feel her encouragement keeps me accountable and more determined to continue my Turkish studies long term. I would highly recommend Seda Surel, she is an exceptional educator!!
